Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend.
I have here a pattern for cute Momo the Baby Monkey. He’s a little shy but he’ll warm up to you!
I found out early last month that this year will be the Year of the Monkey and I thought of the monkey that I had crocheted last year. It had a long and slender appearance and I didn’t really find it very appealing. It didn’t have the cute factor. So I wanted to give it another go and re-design a new one. This time I wanted to give the new monkey a rounder look – so I gave him a rounder body and stubby legs. I think they look cute that way.
Initially wasn’t planning on making a baby monkey, but my little boy said he looks like a baby monkey and a little bit like Curious George. I added pink on his cheeks using felt for that youthful and cutesy appearance you see on plushies.
This pattern is suitable for beginners – just single crochet stitches throughout. A knowledge of magic ring/circle and whipstitch sewing is required.
I used 8 ply acrylic yarn to crochet Momo and he measured about 18cm from top to bottom. I used a 4.5mm hook for this pattern however you can use a 4mm hook if preferred.
The pattern can be found in my Etsy store.
I hope you have fun crocheting this baby monkey and I hope this little project brings a smile to your day. It certainly did for me and my kids.
I would love to see your finished baby monkey – post them here, on Facebook or post on instagram and tag me @maryjcarlos.
Momo was feeling a little bit lonely so I crocheted his sister, Mimi to keep him company. It is the exact same pattern but I’ve added eyelashes.
Until next project, happy crocheting!
***EDIT*** The pattern for the baby monkey was previously available on this post for free. It is now available to download in my store. You may sell finished monkey.
