Hot Cross Bun – FREE Amigurumi Pattern

Advertisements

Here’s a quick project for Easter!

Easter is just around the corner and I have a pattern for you to add to your Easter goodies! Sure it’s inedible but it’s adorable!

Both my son and I love hot cross buns, especially warmed up with loads of butter. We can’t get enough! Although I really only like the fruitless variety and my son likes the chocolate variety. This is reminding me to stock up on hot cross buns for the school holidays coming up.

Which hot cross buns do you enjoy?

This pattern is quick and easy and doesn’t use up much yarn so there’s still time to make one or a few to add to your Easter basket.

Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail. Using a yarn needle, weave the yarn tail through the front loop of each stitch and pull it tight to close. Weave in and hide the yarn tail through the piece several times, but do not trim the yarn yet. Using the same yarn tail, make the nose by sewing 6 horizontal stitches, 2 stitches wide between Rounds 12 and 13, in the centre between the eyes.

CROSS (make 2 in White yarn)

Start with a long tail, about 12 inches. Ch 17. Fasten off and leave a long tail, about 12 inches, for sewing,

FINISHING AND ASSEMBLY

1. Sew the cross on top of the bun, securing all ends over Round 9, just over the brown part of the bun. There should be an interspace of 11 stitches between the ends of the cross.

2. Using pink yarn, make the blush by sewing 2 horizontal stitches, 2 stitches wide below each eye.

This was such a fun make and design! One of my favourites. I hope you enjoy making the hot cross bun 🙂
