Amigurumi Bumblebee and Ladybug

Meet my two new amigurumi design, Humblebee the Bumblebee and Jadybug the Ladybug! Both were named by my little girl. She comes up with the names really fast!  I don’t normally like bugs, especially the flying type but these two are an exception!  I would love to cuddle them anytime! The patterns are now available at Etsy and Craftsy.

I’ve been wanting to design a bee and ladybug for a while now and I’m very pleased with how they turned out.  As always I start sketching my designs and colouring them in but somehow the final product always end up looking a little differently!  I tend to over think my sketches and the final product always look a lot better than the sketch. Humblebee didn’t have a bow tie and Jadybug didn’t have a flower.  It’s fascinating that adding in some small details like a flower or a bow tie can really give the amigirumi a little bit of personality.

Jadybug the Ladybug enjoys playing and running around in the meadow. She also loves to sit and relax on all the colourful flowers, admiring the sunshine!

Humblebee is a polite and playful bumblebee! His favourite season is spring as he enjoys buzzing from flower to flower to gather pollen!

The pattern for both Jadybug and Humblebee uses very basic crochet skills. You will need to know how to make a magic ring/circle, crochet in spirals, chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, changing colours, increase and invisible decrease. You will also need to know very basic sewing and embroidery techniques.

Patterns are now available at Etsy and Craftsy. I hope you enjoy crocheting these two cuties and I would love to see a picture – post a picture on instagram and tag me @maryjcarlos (or #helloyellowyarn) or post on my Facebook page.

Happy crocheting!
