The annual design contest held by Amigurumi.com is on! This year’s theme is “Endangered Animals” and it’s now time to vote for 10 of your favourite designs!

There are over 680 designs this year from talented crochet and amigurumi enthusiasts all over the world. I once again took part in this wonderful contest. My designs are Norm the Northern Quoll and Sky the Spix’s Macaw.

Here’s Norm! A Northern Quoll, a marsupial native to Australia. Unfortunately, his species is declining. Norm spends most of his day foraging for food, and in the evening, he builds a rocky den for him and his friends to keep safe and away from the dangers of the wildlife.

Northern Quoll Fact: Their population declined due to the introduction of predators (feral cats and cane toads) and altered fire patterns.

Now here’s a Sky the Spix’s Macaw, also known as the little Blue Macaw, the rarest of her kind. Their vivid blue colour is absolutely beautiful. Sky loves to travel with her friends, often looking for nuts and seeds along the river. At night, she can be found roosting at the lushest treetop.

Spix’s Macaw Fact: This species has been considered extinct in the wild due to illegal trafficking and destruction of habitat. There are only around 160 kept in captivity.
