Owie the Voodoo Doll – Free Amigurumi Pattern

Halloween is just around the corner which means spooky bits and bobs are out and about! While we’re not big on Halloween here, I thought I’d also get into the spooky crafting spirit – no pun intended 😛 . Anyway, meet Owie, the Voodoo Doll pin cushion! Isn’t he adorable? I know, too cute that you almost feel bad sticking pins into him.

He is super duper easy to make. You can embroider the stitches wherever you like and use whatever colour you like.

Follow the pattern below to make your own Owie the Voodoo Doll. Printable pdf version –> Owie The Voodoo Doll Amigurumi Pattern HYY.

You will need:

  • 3.5mm crochet hook
  • 8ply (DK/Light worsted) acrylic yarn ball in green (or colour of your choice)
  • small amount of dark brown yarn
  • 1 small and 1 big plastic safety eyes
  • toy stuffing
  • yarn needle
  • scissors
  • stitch marker (optional)

Abbreviations (US Terminology):

Rnd – round
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
st / sts – stitch / stitches
inc – increase (2 sc in one stitch)
dec – single crochet decrease (sc 2 together)
rep – repeat

Skill Level: Easy/Beginner

**Pattern notes**

  • You’ll need to know how to make a magic ring/circle.
  • You will be crocheting in spirals.
  • Invisible decrease technique was used for this pattern – if you’re not familiar with this decrease, a regular single crochet decrease is perfectly fine to do.
  • Finished doll measures 15cm (6in) tall.

TIP:

  • Use 2 different size buttons if you don’t have plastic safety eyes.
  • Make Owie into a keyring by using a smaller hook (2.5mm or 3mm).

ASSEMBLY

  • Sew the head to the neck of the body using the leftover yarn tail from the body. Add more stuffing if needed. The head will naturally tilt to the side due to the height of the hdc stitches.
  • Sew the arms to the sides of the body, between Rounds 19 & 20, 4 stitches apart at the front.
  • Use the yarn tail from the 1st leg to sew the gap close between the legs.
  • Loop a few strands of dark brown yarn through Round 3 of the head. Trim to preferred length.
  • Give this little voodoo doll some stitches! Use dark brown yarn to embroider stitches on the head, the front of the body and the top of each leg.

  1. Hi there love this little voodoo guy any idea how many I could get out of a 170g ball of yarn? Just a guess like to make in different colors.

  2. I would like to first thank you for the free pattern and then I would like to thank you for having such a neat and pleasant web page. No ads popped up in my face and I didn’t have to search all over the page to find the pattern.
    Nice 🙂
