Meet Jack Pup! He is a jack russell terrier pup and isn’t he just sweet?! I had so much fun making this little sweetie and he just turned out perfect. His pattern is now available for download in my Etsy, Craftsy and Amigurumipatterns.net stores.
I initially intended for him to be in a standing position but opted to make him in a sitting position instead – he appears more endearing this way. My little boy also helped me design Jack – he decided Jack should wear a scarf instead of a collar. A green scarf – it’s my son’s favourite colour at the moment.
His pattern is suitable for beginners and detailed with lots and lots of photos. You will need to know how to make a magic ring, crochet in spirals and rounds, single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, single crochet increase and decrease and basic sewing technique to sew the pieces together. The pattern also includes how to make eye indents.
I used a 4.5mm hook and 8 ply acrylic yarn to crochet this puppy dog and the finished item measured about 23cm (9 inches) from top to bottom.
You will need:
- 4.5mm crochet hook
- 1x 8 ply yarn ball – at least 270m (295 yds) in White
- 1x 8 ply yarn ball in Light Brown
- 1x 8 ply yarn ball in Light Green
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Polyester toy stuffing
- 2x 14mm plastic safety eyes
- 1x 21x16mm plastic safety nose
- Craft pipe cleaner/craft wire (optional)
- Stitch marker (optional)
- Pins (optional)
Pattern available at Etsy, Craftsy and Amigurumipatterns.net. I hope you enjoy crocheting this little sweetheart! If you make Jack Pup, I would love to see him – post a picture on instagram and tag me @maryjcarlos (or #helloyellowyarn) or post on my Facebook page.
Happy crocheting!

Lovely…
Thank you! I am a beginner at crochet and I have been looking for an easy pattern that looks like my son’s favorite dog: a catahoula. Jack has the same body shape, just different colors. Looking forward to creating this project.
