Little Bunny with Carrots – Free Amigurumi Pattern

Easter is coming up in a few weeks and I thought I’d make a cute little bunny with a basket of carrots to share with you all. She’s a little darling and I’m so pleased with how she turned out. This little bunny just finished picking her favourite carrots from the farm and can’t wait to eat them! I wonder if she’ll share some carrots?

Below is the pattern for Little Bunny if you’d like to make one for yourself or as a gift 🙂

You will need:

  • 3mm and 3.5mm crochet hook
  • 8ply (DK/Light worsted) acrylic yarn in cream, brown, orange and green
  • 2x 8mm plastic safety eyes
  • toy stuffing
  • yarn needle
  • scissors
  • stitch marker (optional)

Abbreviations (US Terminology)

  • Rnd – round
  • sc – single crochet
  • inc – increase (2 sc in one stitch)
  • dec – single crochet decrease (sc 2 together)
  • ch – chain
  • BLO – back loops only
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • st/sts – stitch/stitches
  • sk – skip
  • rep – repeat

**PATTERN NOTES**

  • You’ll need to know how to make a magic ring.
  • You will be crocheting in spirals.
  • Invisible decrease technique was used in this pattern – if you are not familiar with this decrease, a regular single crochet decrease is perfectly fine to use. (Check my tutorial on invisible decrease here).
  • Finished bunny measures 20cm/8in tall.

ASSEMBLY

1. Use brown yarn and embroider a nose 3 stitches wide between Rounds 14 & 15 of the head, in the centre between the eyes.

2. Stitch the ears on top of the head over Rounds 3 to 5.

3. Matching stitch for stitch, sew the head onto the neck of the body. To avoid the head flopping over, add a little more stuffing before closing.

4. Sew the arms on either side of the body between Rounds 29 & 30, 6 stitches apart at the front.

5. Sew the tail at the back of the body over Rounds 14 to 18.

6. Sew the stem on top of the carrot. Using a yarn needle, pass both tails of the stem into the very centre of the top of the carrot and draw the tails out from the side of the carrot. Pass one yarn tail back into the same stitch hole and out the top centre of the carrot. Pass the yarn tail over to the other side of the stem and insert through the centre and back out the side of the carrot. Repeat this process for the other yarn tail. This will secure the stem on top of the carrot. Weave the yarn tails through the carrot several times and trim the ends to finish.

7. Optional – use cream or brown yarn to sew the arms to the sides of the basket if you want the bunny to be holding the basket.

I do hope you enjoy making this little bunny! I had so much fun designing her. My favourite part was making the basket for the carrots 🙂
